This course is designed to familiarize students who have little or no experience in conducting qualitative research with the perspectives, methods, and techniques of its practitioners. The course covers both the theoretical foundations of qualitative inquiry and the primary methods of data collection and analysis. Student fieldwork projects, carried out concurrently with classroom lectures and activities, are a central part of the course, and should be conducted in small groups.
